c - Lightweight GNU readline alternative -


i looking gnu readline alternative. comes lot of features couple of them useful me explained below -

i working on interactive command prompt application (display prompt , accept next user command run). want implement editing , history feature prompt. when user presses key should show last run command. also, user should able navigate using arrow keys if need edit typo or command switches etc.

on windows similar exists, if use fgets or scanf input on cmd prompt maintains history , lets edit.

is there option available on linux?

this admirable goal think :-)

perhaps linenoise, libedit/editline or tecla fit bill?

of libedit used - e.g. postgreqsql client shell , various bsd utilities kerberos , ntp (although upstream sources may not default line editing library compilation due widespread use of libreadline on linux). there couple of different versions of libedit/editline you'll see if read of references , further research.
