Decoded barcode extra digits -
i trying come terms how barcode decoded , generated scanner.
a note client says following generated bar code consists of characters:
generated code: |2389299920014} characters: apparently first 2 , last 3 characters not part of bar code.
question characters attached bar code reader (therefore dependent on scanner) or intrinsic part of barcode?
here sample image of barcode: http://imageshack.us/a/img824/1862/dm6x.jpg
thanks
[solved] apologies. 1 of cases of 'shooting mouth off' without doing proper research.
solution code ean13. prefix , suffix scanner dependent. 13 digits in between follows (first digit left) check sum (next 9 digits) company id + item id (last 3 digits ) gs1 prefix
it's hard answer without understanding format trying encode, intended contents are, , purported contents are.
some formats add information part of encoding process, not become part of content. when correctly encoded , decoded, output should match input exactly.
barcodes encode encode , there no data somehow part of barcode not somehow encoded in it.
ean-13 has no scanner-dependent considerations, no. encoding , decoding of given number same everywhere. ean-13 encodes 13 digits, not sure 13 digits "in between" mean.
you mention gs1, else. family of barcodes in fact. you'd have using. gs1 encodings likewise not ambiguous or scanner-dependent. know want encode, encode exactly, it's read exactly.
