windows - IIS Metabase Explorer for IIS 7.5 -


we have many iis7.5 web servers require support different departments , avoid giving away many privileges user groups (security groups in active directory).

we take backup of iis configuration, store in 1 location servers , allow support units read/view configuration instead of accessing iis administrative tools directly each server.

i thinking of metabase explorer used available iis 6.0 in resource kit. there similar users can install workstations view iis config different servers?

or there better way give security group read access iis configuration on servers?

simply copy applicationhost.config file (along other xml files necessary). metabase explorer obsolete , should avoided used against iis 7 , above.

iis 7 , above introduce better remote administration support, can learn http://www.iis.net/learn/manage/remote-administration/configuring-remote-administration-and-feature-delegation-in-iis-7
