Why variable of data type "id" can't be a pointer, in Objective-C? -


this question has answer here:

i new objective-c , curious know more id data type. wondering why variable of data type id can't pointer.

while declaring variable learnt should make pointer, e.g.

someclass *somevar = [[someclass alloc] init];

but in case of id type, like:

id somevar = [[someclass alloc] init];

here, id type no longer pointer. why?

id generic pointer type objective-c object don't know class is. pointer type.
