php - asynchronous messaging/notifications for real time feed back to users -


looking advice , general opinion.

im looking build notification system site message users on @ times , events.

so example when new blog post added site, user logged onto system visual notification (a bit when comments on status on facebook) there need persistence there users not logged in notification once return site.

anyway im advice re: tech/language/framework, on real time/asyn nature of how work.

the dependency/restriction components must open source, other function can built in (node/python/pure javascript solution/php etc)

n.b looking @ faye possible option

another solution rabbitmq connecting html5 websockets fail on sockjs if browser doesn't implement websockets.

rabbitmq has python, ruby, erlang. hell, there's straight c plug in.
