Using your own XMPP server for android chat app (Smack API) -


i new android programming.i have completed basics though , wish learn xmpp making chat application on android. i've gone through tutorials, have not got way use custom pc server application.i want use laptop server sending messages between 2 android devices.my laptop should able recieve , direct messages between two.can please me started?

first of all, need install in laptop xmpp server. here list of available ones. people used openfire easy install , configure, production purposes ejabberd (linux , mac only) seems more robust.

to develop app, can use smack, large documented, code snapshots connect server, create chat, send , receive messages etc.
